Virtual Two-day Evidence-based Facilitation Skills for Interactive Journaling®

About the event

Description:
This two-day training focuses on building therapeutic relationships, practicing motivational skills, preparing for sessions, and utilizing effective facilitation techniques for both individual and group settings that support program fidelity. This training will prepare staff to implement the Interactive Journaling® curricula in their service delivery.

Training Units:
Unit 1: Introduction
Unit 2: Building the Therapeutic Alliance
Unit 3: Practicing and Coaching: Session Planning and Facilitation Skills
Unit 4: Implementation Readiness and Action Plan

Prerequisites:
Prior to attending this training, participants must:
Complete the on-demand training "
Foundational Facilitation Skills for Interactive Journaling" on The Change Companies’ Fidelity Platform (access to the Fidelity Platform will be included in your purchase of this training)
Have at least one Journal and one Facilitator Guide from your chosen Interactive Journaling® curriculum
Have stable internet access and the ability to use Zoom on your device

About the trainer

Dr. Thompson is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience assessing and treating mental health and substance use disorders in state and federal prisons. She began her career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1999, and over the course of her career she coordinated numerous substance use and mental health treatment programs for incarcerated people within institutions of all security levels. She also coordinated reentry treatment programs for individuals transitioning from custody to supervised release. For seven years, Dr. Thompson served as the Chief of Drug Treatment Programs for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In this capacity she oversaw administrative and clinical aspects of substance use treatment programs at all of the Bureau’s 122 facilities, including an extensive training program for clinical staff. Dr. Thompson retired from the Bureau of Prisons in 2023.
