In-Person Two-day Evidence-based Facilitation Skills for Interactive Journaling®

About the event

Upon completion of the Foundational Facilitation Skills for Interactive Journaling ® �training, staff will participate in live training sessions to further develop their skills. The live training focuses on building therapeutic relationships, practicing motivational skills, preparing for sessions, and utilizing effective facilitation techniques for both individual and group settings that support program fidelity. This training will prepare staff to implement the Interactive Journaling ® curricula in their service delivery.

About the trainer

Karen Hellman. MA. LISAC, MAC has over 27 years of experience in addiction treatment, corrections, and administration in a variety of roles. In 1993, she graduated with a BA in Psychology from Hunter College, then continued her education obtaining a MA in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1996. During her career she has worked in a wide selection of settings including juvenile corrections, community providers, county jail, and adult corrections. Prior to retiring from the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry in 2022, she served as the Assistant Director for Inmate Programs and Reentry. In this capacity, Karen oversaw Addiction Treatment, Sex Offender Treatment, Educational Services, Religious Services, Reentry Services, and Community Corrections. She served on a multitude of legislative/governmental workgroups regarding service provision, boards, and commissions.
